ProFractional Laser Treatment

Little Downtime, Big Results With One Of Our Favorite Treatments

ProFractional Laser Treatment Manhattan | New York City (NYC)

What is a ProFractional Peel?

Laser resurfacing procedures of the past meant weeks of downtime, wound care, and usually time off needed from work. ProFractional is a quick and comfortable laser procedure with little downtime, used for improving the overall appearance of the skin. It offers significant improvement over previous fractional lasers, such as the Fraxel. This treatment improves a variety of skin conditions such as wrinkles and fine lines, traumatic and acne scars, age and sun spots, freckles, signs of aging, and sun damage. Popular treatment areas are the face and neck, though many people also treat the chest and hands.

How does ProFractional work?

ProFractional uses laser energy to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin which are surrounded by areas of healthy, untreated skin. The zones of untreated skin invigorate the body’s natural healing process, and the treated areas stimulate production of new collagen, plumping up the skin and smoothing out the wrinkles, lines and scars, and tightening pores and other irregularities.

How many treatments will I need and how long will each treatment take?

Depending on your skin's needs and your desires, the ProFractional is typically done as a series of four to five treatments spaced four to eight weeks apart, although noticeable results are obtained with just one treatment. At his office in New York City NY, Dr. Schwartz will personalize the treatment plan for each patient based on the amount of improvement needed and the desired downtime. The treatment time is typically 15-30 minutes.

Will it be uncomfortable?

To keep the treatment as comfortable as possible, a topical numbing cream is applied prior to the treatment to control any discomfort. During the treatment, cold air will be gently blown against the skin to facilitate your comfort. Since every person has a different threshold for pain, Dr. Schwartz may suggest an oral pain medication for especially sensitive patients.

What should I expect after the procedure and how long will it take to recover?

Immediately following the procedure you will experience a redness resembling a sunburn, which can last several days depending on the treatment performed. Most patients return to makeup and work one to two days following the treatment. There may also be some swelling, but this will subside within several days following the treatment.

What aftercare will I need?

You will be given skin care products and instructions on how to use them. Your skin will be sensitive to sunlight after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. At hs practice in New York City NY, Dr. Schwartz always recommends some level of solar protection to avoid sun damage and premature aging of your skin.

When should I expect results?

As your skin heals in the days following treatment, you may notice a general tightening effect. However, the true benefit of ProFractional is the collagen remodeling that occurs during the 4 to 6 months following your treatment.

Sciton NanoLaserPeel™

The NanoLaserPeel™ from Sciton is an advanced laser skin resurfacing treatment for rejuvenating dull, aging skin. The NanoLaserPeel employs light energy to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin. The laser is able to penetrate to a deeper level of skin as well, stimulating the production of natural proteins that promote renewal from within the skin. It can be more effective than chemical peels or dermabrasion, which typically cannot reach far beneath the surface. The NanoLaserPeel is also a very safe treatment option as it does not use any harsh substances on the skin or damage layers of skin with excessive heat. Its accuracy at targeting a precise depth leaves patients with smoother, more youthful skin after a single treatment session.
