Fill in Lines and Wrinkles

Facial fillers NYCJuvederm Ultra, Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, Restylane, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk, Restylane Refyne and Defyne and Belotero are dermal fillers formulated from synthetic forms of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body’s soft connective tissues. As the body ages and is exposed to natural elements (e.g., the sun), its supply of hyaluronic acid declines. This causes the skin to noticeably age, developing lines and wrinkles

These dermal fillers replenish the body’s supply of hyaluronic acid to minimize signs of aging. When injected into the face, these products add volume and fullness to the facial structures and tissues. They act as an inflatable cushion that fills in folds, lines and wrinkles. Also, the products are hydrophilic, meaning they attract fluid to the surface of the skin, giving it a fresh and supple appearance.

Since the products are non-animal based, they are tolerated very well. Allergy testing is not required prior to treatment with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers.

Dr. Mark H. Schwartz administers a multitude of dermal fillers to refine and contour your face. The products have subtle differences and are recommended based on the individual patient’s cosmetic needs and goals. Instead of delegating injectable treatments to a nurse or aesthetician, Dr. Schwartz personally performs the treatment.

Juvederm Ultra XC

Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus are approved by the FDA to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It is one of Dr. Schwartz’s favorite dermal filers since it delivers smooth, natural-results.  Juvederm is infused with lidocaine for maximal patient comfort.  It is often used to fill in:

  • Nasolabial folds – lines that extend from the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Marionette lines – vertical wrinkles extending from the corners of the mouth to the sides of the chin
  • Corners of the mouth
  • Forehead lines
  • Thinning lips
  • Nasojugal grooves – area under the eyes

Compared to other injectable fillers, Juvederm has a smoother and silkier consistency. It conforms well to the facial structures. Results appear immediately and can last up to a year.  Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a thicker gel and is used for deeper, more prominent lines.   Studies have shown that Juvederm can last up to one year.

Juvederm Vollure XC

Juvederm Vollure XC is the newest hyaluronic gel filler in the Juvederm family.  It is used for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and can last up to 18 months.  It is formulated with Allergan’s patented Vycross technology that blends the filler molecules for a smooth, long-lasting, and natural result.

It is commonly used in the following areas:

  • Nasolabial folds – lines that extend from the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Marionette lines – vertical wrinkles extending from the corners of the mouth to the sides of the chin
  • Corners of the mouth

How is Vollure different than Voluma and the other fillers?

Vollure is lighter and more elastic than Voluma, making it a better choice for “dynamic” areas such as the nasolabial folds.  Voluma is stiffer than Vollure, making it ideal for volume replacement in the cheek where it is not subjected to constant motion.

Juvederm XC, Vollure, Voluma, and Volbella are all designed to work in specific areas of the face.  It is not uncommon for Dr. Schwartz the use more than one filler on one patient.  For example if a patient has deflated cheeks, deep nasolabial folds, and thin lips, he may use Voluma in the cheeks, Juvederm XC or Vollure in the folds, and Volbella in the lips.
