Common Questions About Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty or “nose reshaping surgery,” is performed for a variety of reasons. Rhinoplasty can serve both medical and cosmetic goals. Often, boosting self-confidence is the ultimate goal when it comes to rhinoplasty surgery, but an added benefit is improved breathing.

Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

Patients who are displeased or self-conscious about the appearance of their noses are candidates for rhinoplasty. By working with Dr. Schwartz, patients have had their noses reshaped to achieve their ideal look. Being happy with yourself is an important step toward living a better life.

What Can I Expect During Rhinoplasty?

Patients are often placed under general anesthesia, but in some cases IV sedation may be appropriate. Rhinoplasty is an outpatient procedure, which means that patients can should have someone that can drive them to and from surgery and stay with them for the night.

Rhinoplasty is performed either by opened or closed surgical techniques. The method used depends on the individual, and the surgical goals.

How Long Does it Take to Recover from Rhinoplasty?

Recovery takes a few weeks, and swelling can persist for upwards of one year. Results are noticeable after surgical dressings are removed approximately one week after surgery. As initial swelling subsides, results are increasingly noticeable. Individuals are also prescribed oral pain medication to better manage any post-surgical pain they may have.
